Community Action Team
School Safety from a Student Lens
Over the past year, many Minnesota students have experienced uncertainty and disruption that has affected how safe they feel in school. State leaders have an obligation to respond—but the people closest to the issue must help shape the solutions.
The EdAllies Community Action Team: School Safety from a Student Lens brings together Minnesota high school students to define what safety truly looks like in school communities and develop recommendations for state leaders.
Through this program, students will build community, explore research, and ensure that student voice drives the conversation about school safety in Minnesota.
Applications close March 22, 2026.
Who Should Apply
We will select a cohort of 10 Minnesota high school students who are interested in shaping conversations about safe school buildings and school climate.
Students do not need prior policy or advocacy experience — just curiosity, thoughtfulness, and a willingness to share their perspectives. Students will be named contributors on the final public report and will have optional opportunities to continue as advocates and spokespeople.
If you know a current Minnesota high school student who is thoughtful, motivated, and ready to help shape statewide policy, please encourage them to apply.
